Philosophy
Our Framework
The BOWER framework guides how we build, govern, and nurture every learning pod in our community.
Child-Centered
Every decision starts with what's best for the learner. Curricula adapt to children, not the other way around.
Transparency
Open governance, clear expectations, and honest communication between educators, parents, and learners.
Shared Stewardship
Pods are cooperatively governed. Families and educators share responsibility for the learning community.
Rooted in Nature
Outdoor, experiential learning is foundational. Nature is a co-teacher in every pod.
Equity & Access
Learning pods should be accessible to all families. We actively work to reduce barriers to participation.
Growth Mindset
Assessment is narrative-based and growth-oriented. We celebrate progress, not perfection.
Governance Model
Each BOWER pod operates as a self-governing cooperative. Families and educators together establish a pod charter: learning goals, meeting schedules, curriculum choices, decision-making processes.
BOWER provides the framework, the tools, the community support. Each pod retains autonomy over its daily operations. The people closest to the learners make the best decisions.
Our community guidelines set expectations for safety, inclusion, and quality. BOWER's founder approves each educator profile by hand before it goes live.
