    Overview

All About Reading is an Orton-Gillingham-based phonics program designed for dyslexic, struggling, and typically-developing readers alike. Built around explicit, sequential, multi-sensory instruction. Tiles, letter cards, and a 'fluency sheet' approach that makes phonograms concrete. Four levels (Pre-Reading through Level 4) take a child from letter sounds through fluent reading. Loved by families with kids who didn't 'just pick it up' from exposure to books. Premium pricing relative to other phonics programs, but the most consistently recommended reading curriculum on every learning-difference forum.

    Strengths

    • •Single most reliable dyslexia-friendly homeschool reading program in community consensus
    • •mastery-based progression builds genuine confidence
    • •parent-friendly scripted lessons require no phonics background
    • •letter tiles make abstract rules concrete
    • •short daily lessons (20 min)
    • •lifetime customer support frequently cited as exceptional

    Limitations

    • •Pacing is slow by design. Appropriate for struggling readers but frustrating for typical/advanced learners
    • •requires parent for every lesson
    • •included reader stories described as 'boring' and 'predictable'
    • •4 levels cover through ~Grade 2 phonics only
    • •organizational complexity with tiles/flashcards/readers

    The honest read

The most consistently praised phonics curriculum in the homeschool community with unusually strong consensus: it reliably teaches children to read, especially those with dyslexia. Two surprises vs professional reviews: (1) pace is too slow for neurotypical advanced readers who abandon it early; (2) the decodable readers are described as dull even by parents who love the program.
