    Overview

Blossom and Root is a secular, nature-based curriculum drawing on Charlotte Mason and Waldorf without strictly adhering to either. The visual design is unusually beautiful for homeschool curriculum, and the early-years volumes (Wonder Garden, Early Years, Root and Sprout) are widely loved. Daily plans are short, leaving room for outdoor time, free play, and family rhythm. Best used as a spine through elementary; upper grades thin out and most families transition to other programs around middle school.

    Strengths

    • •Exceptional literature selections. Well-hand-picked, secular, high-quality
    • •Nature study is rich and well-sequenced
    • •affordable PDF delivery
    • •flexibility without chaos
    • •children with special needs (autism) report strong engagement
    • •beautiful design quality

    Limitations

    • •Significantly incomplete: no math (K only), no spelling, no handwriting, no formal history track
    • •caps out at grade 6 requiring full curriculum transition
    • •requires parent prep for hands-on materials
    • •not suitable for families wanting explicit LA skills instruction

    Best fit for

Secular families wanting nature-immersive, arts-forward early childhood with CM/Waldorf blend; children with sensory differences or burnout from traditional curricula; families comfortable assembling a patchwork (Blossom + separate math + phonics)

    The honest read

Children 'begging to do school' is a common report after switching to it. The surprise limitation that catches families: it covers almost no math, no handwriting, no spelling, and no formal history. Making it incomplete as a standalone. Parents often discover this after purchase and must scramble to build out missing subjects.
