    Overview

Meadowlark Learning is a Waldorf-aligned homeschool curriculum that emphasizes seasonal rhythm, story, handwork, and the whole child across elementary years. Beautifully designed with seasonal block plans (Form Drawing, Math Through Form, etc.) and meaningful integration of nature, art, and academic subjects. Particularly strong for families drawn to Waldorf philosophy who don't have access to a Waldorf school. Requires parent comfort with non-traditional pacing. Academic skills may emerge later than in traditional school, which is the philosophy, not a bug.

    Strengths

    • •100% secular and inclusive. Designed specifically for families who need non-religious materials (critical for CA charter compliance)
    • •Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham based phonics instruction
    • •open-and-go format with 90 gentle lessons per level
    • •nurtures curiosity and connection alongside academics
    • •beautiful design and materials
    • •emerging strong word-of-mouth in SoCal homeschool community

    Limitations

    • •Currently only covers PreK with Kindergarten launching summer 2026. Very limited grade range
    • •brand-new curriculum without long-term track record
    • •no math component included (families must supplement)
    • •not yet available for elementary grades
    • •Small publisher. Potential availability/support constraints as they scale

    The honest read

Emerging as a top secular recommendation in Southern California homeschool groups. Multiple parents across different threads recommend it enthusiastically, particularly the PreK level. Positioned as the answer for charter families who need explicitly secular, open-and-go materials. The main limitation is grade coverage. Currently only PreK with K rolling out. Watch this one closely as it expands.
